It is sturdy and durable with the metal constructions and the stainless steel finish. This modern and sleek dark stainless steel Calphalon Oven weighs about 10 pounds and measures 11.75H x 18.75W x 14D inches and you need enough clearance of at least six inches over it for air circulation if you’ll be putting it on your kitchen bench below the cabinets. You can make beef jerky or make a variety of dried snacks from fruits, veggies and other ingredients with the dehydrator mode. It gets hot on the outside of this oven and one of the customers measured the surface temperatures around the oven. The results are good and the surfaces will not be affected negatively. But please make sure you have enough clearance above and on the sides. It will turn a fan on and off in baking mode with the turbo convection button. It has two control knobs that are easy to use, for Turbo Convect and Temp/Time functions. You just need to press the knobs in the middle and turn them to get to the settings you want.
Calphalon Toaster Oven will take up a bit of space on your counter and comes with a few accessories but is a little small for use as a regular food dehydrator. According to one of the customers, because there is no radiant heating element from below or the center and if you set it to 450 degrees, it will get there at the preheating stage and will drop once you put the pizza or fries in and the results may be different to what you’re used to in your other oven. This doesn’t seem to be the case with the other customers that measured interior and they are impressed that the interior of this oven gets to the temp they set it to quickly and stays there, while heating all levels evenly. This is a very well insulated oven that will give you great results consistently and deserves its price tag.
