You can put the hOmeLabs Water Cooler on the hardwood floor or carpet as there won’t be any leaking when you change the bottle. It is a solid unit that won’t tip even without the water bottle in it. If you taste anything odd like plastic just clean the unit and the bottle properly by following the user manual instructions. The water cooler needs 8 inches of clearance at the back for the coils to get airflow, but 4-5 inches of clearance will do too. It works very quietly and you can comfortably sleep in the same room.
